I’ve raved to friends about this before, but now it’s earned a spot on the blog. And no, I’m not getting any kickback from this!
I’ve had Big Shrimpy dog beds for a long time, nearly two decades, and I’ve been consistently impressed with their durability. There are four Big Shrimpy beds in my house right now, and most of them date back a good ten years or so. But one finally succumbed to wear, when Undómiel got enthusiastic in her bed-fluffing after ten years of wear, and the cover wore through.
I would ordinarily think that ten years was a good run for a dog bed, but I remembered that Big Shrimpy doesn’t mess around with durability and environmental sustainability. Rather than buying a new bed, I simply hopped on their website and ordered a new cover. There I learned that not only can you replace all the parts of the bed individually, from filling to liner to cover, but you can even send in your used bed or parts for recycling.
Sure, a Big Shrimpy bed costs more upfront, but when you compare it to buying a cheaper bed yearly (because our cheap beds never lasted more than 6-10 months), it’s a smart investment.
So lemme tell you, if you’re shopping for a new dog bed, I do recommend the Big Shrimpy, which you can find at the fabulous Pet Expertise. Not an affiliate link, just a consistently happy customer.
2021 update: I am so sorry to report that it seems the Big Shrimpy beds are out of production. If anyone finds them in stock, please do share!
