What is a No Reward Marker (NRM), and is it a useful tool or an awful mistake? Should a good clicker trainer use an NRM, and, if so, when?
It’s out there, lurking. At times you feel it stalking just behind you. At last it springs as someone asks, “Why don’t you tell your dog it was wrong?”
The NRM debate has been reopened once more.

Super helpful! Thanks! In addition to learning about NRMs, the video helped reinforce to me why the clicker is better than using your voice. The duration of the click is so short, it was easier for Shakespeare to pinpoint exactly which behavior you were reinforcing. With a word, it probably would have overlapped the head *and* paw motion, making him think you were reinforcing the paw, not the head.
Thanks, Laura!

Excellent observation! Yes, you don’t always need the precision of a click — but when you need precision, you need precision!
