The crocodile puppy is coming!
After nearly three years of research and waiting for the right time, I’m finally awaiting the arrival of a new puppy. I wanted a working-bred Doberman, so finding the right breeder was important. That took me about a year (finding a dog bred for both specific purpose and for health requires some research). Then I wanted to wait until I was in a good location and position in life; I knew I planned to move, and I didn’t want to be distracted from the puppy.
Last summer the perfect litter hit the ground, but I was preparing to self-build a house. Not good timing. But the breeders were planning another litter (with their other bitch) in the spring. We started the house….
I really thought we’d have the house finished by the time the puppy arrived, but I think it’s going to be a very close race. Actually, I know the puppy will be here before the house is fully finished, but at least we’ll be in the new location! Probably the only thing keeping me sane during puppy anticipation is the urgency of finishing the house, and the only thing keeping me sane during the urgency of finishing the house is puppy anticipation….
I’ve decided to try and follow the example of Melissa Alexander and Sue Ailsby in publishing a puppy blog, with the hope that it will amuse and perhaps assist others out there in cyberspace. I’ll talk about breed selection, puppy selection, and of course training. Training. Lots of training.
Here’s to anticipation!
