Laura’s Crate Credo

Laura’s Crate Credo:

•    I will teach my dog to relax in her crate and love the space, not to merely tolerate being within it.
•    I will teach my dog to chew or otherwise self-entertain in her crate.
•    I will teach my dog to relax quietly in the crate without toys or chews.
•    I will teach my dog to relax in her crate so that in case of an emergency stay at the vet, she is not further stressed by the novel confinement.
•    I will teach my dog to relax in her crate so that after an injury she can be confined for safe recovery without undue stress.
•    I will teach my dog to enjoy riding in her crate, because it is not safe for her to be loose in my car.
•    I will teach my dog to relax in her crate so that I can take a shower without allowing reinforcement of bad behavior or physical harm to come to the still-in-training dog.
•    I will teach my dog to relax in her crate so that she can travel with me and be welcome in hotels.
•    I will teach my dog to relax in her crate so that she can be comfortable at competitive events or crowded venues.
•    I will teach my dog to relax in her crate so that when Nutter-In-Laws arrive with their dog-phobic/ dog-allergic/ dog-abusing little heathens, I can deal with the situation without worrying about a crisis in the meantime.
•    I will teach my dog to relax in her crate, because it is the safest and most comfortable way (considering heat, tangle risk, or theft) for her to rest while in my car at any dog event.
•    I will of course give my dog plenty of time and exercise and personal attention outside of the crate, so that I actually enjoy having a dog.
